Previous Entry Add to Memories Tell a Friend Next Entry
For those of you who were thinking about starting a blog on Wordpress if LJ goes tits-up next year -- LJ Crossposter. It'll send your Wordpress blog entries direct to your LJ, without having to create a separate feed, for those people who just can't face stepping out of LJ's gates into the big wide internet.

My own website feeds into LJ at [info]warrenelliscom.

I note that most of my friends list has gone dark. [info]venacava's bailed out today. The new owners, in their "100 day plan" to energise LJ, cite an intent to "improve tagging and flagging (e.g. commercial or offensive content)." I suspect that'll see most other people gone by spring (I had to reset my journal to unscreen adult content twice before it finally took, and I'm expecting the system to reset me back to Moderate/Collapse Adult Content again before the end of the week).

In the meantime -- I need new LJs to read. Any recommendations, volunteers, things for me to leer at, I dunno... do your monkey brain dance for me, my little scumbubbles.

THanks for the tip to LJ crossposter, Warren. This will be very useful in the near future. I'm not bailing on LJ entirely, now anyway, but definitely beginning to ease away from it for certain uses.

Well, I've been posting quite a bit more art lately, but there's not much to push here.

[info]abandonedplaces is more often than not pictures of Russia, but there are some gorgeous, chilling things there.

[info]monbellemonde is to be pimped because it has potential, needs more interest, and belongs to my friend [info]hametsunosaturn.

This chick [info]mandy_moon has a great LJ to read. She has the type of life that you swear must be made up. Currently she's working at a monkey lab, so her entries are filled with interesting herpes-addled monkey stories.

I'm a fan of the crossposting software; the ebroder one I told Zoe about might need a little bit of tweaking for Wordpress 2, but I'll send anyone the edited version if they can't handle it.

I've always liked the ability to have a handle on my own content; and I'll push it to places where there are readers.

Thanks for the heads-up on LJ Crossposter. I was wondering if something like this existed. Now to indocrinate my monkey army.

I have a blog called [info]ateupwithmotor, which has articles and photos of cars, talking about the technology and sometimes strange and interesting people and circumstances that attended their creation.

You could always tune into me again. I've pared it down to pretty much just my artwork and occasional photo, and I'm running Green Llama there at a page a day.

All the morose, introspective drama is on another journal now.

I use the LJ Crossposter, and it's very nice.

Another plugin which might be useful to people who are used to the Livejournal interface, especially for it's comment features, is some form of threaded comments.

I'm personally trying out Brian's Threaded Comments and it seems to work quite well.

I suggest the journal of my friend, Manning Krull. He's a comic artist/illustrator who lives in a little pink room in France.

I already use the crossposter, it works great. You can always check out my livejournal/podcast. I just did a fantastic interview with Brian Ralph, and i talk to just about every alternative cartoonist. You name them, they have been on the Inkstuds show, or will be at some time soon.

For a community: [info]uncensored_lj. The added bonus to reading this community is it can expose you to more individual journals worthy of reading regularly.

My fiance' just pulled a Jeckle and Hyde and is no longer speaking to anyone. I suspect depression meds and alcohol.
Sunday I found a large lump in my breast and now I am looking at surgery at least.
My life has gone to shit.

I don't think I'm going anywhere, at least not for the time being. I'm working at AMG these days, though the journal is mostly about my life outside of work. Now that I'm all relocated, I can hopefully go about making that life a bit more interesting in the coming year.

There's also [info]theycallmeboy. He doesn't post as often as I do, but he tends to have more (mis)adventures anyway. Like the time he went to the Warlords of Pez gig. Or just this past weekend, when he made a short film in 100 hours. (You can watch the results here.)

Here's hoping that LJ isn't completely gutted in 2008.

Hm. Thanks for the heads up on that.

I've started posting a picture per day this week. They're photographs I've taken...which is sorta cool I think but I don't make any pretense of being a photog. I have little tourist camera and like to take pictures of ordinary things.

I started using the crossposter a few months ago because I figured it was time I got a big-girl blog. Unfortunately I don't have any reading rec's because my journal is boring of late and you already read Cherie's.

My sister: http://subtleas-a-trex.livejournal.com/

She posts infrequently, but when she does, it is an undiluted journey into the mind of a 60 year old sailor trapped in the body of a vengeful 19 year old girl.

For the meantime, I'm still hanging around. I mostly do F/SF/historical illustrations.

There's also [info]ursulav for your weirdly cute art needs, [info]processrecess for James Jean's blog, and [info]pantsketch for a group sketchblog with an array of comic/animated styles.

My two good friends, [info]sculptruth and [info]the_lady_t, are amazing people and post a great range from art to smut to comedy.
