In fact, I’d be okay with not going back until 2017.
Which, if Grant Morrison is to be believed, would be five years too late.
2017 for any particular reason or just because it's a long time in the future and gives Jesus plenty of time to call you home before then?
My previous appearances were 1997 and 2007. So.
Good reasons.
I hope I'm still in that general area, come that time. I missed Comic-Con last year, mostly because it fell on my birthday and I was drunk.
I was surprised that you do them at all. I figured you for more of a recluse, like Steinbeck. Or Ted Kaczynski.
 Hmmmm.
So are you thinking of returning to the hot, heavy air of Chicago, or do you plan to spread your... time... around?
Chicago? I've never seen Chicago in my life. That was ROSEMONT, and I never got to escape.
We'll see if I get any offers next year. I'm okay with not doing an American comics show for a long while, if that's how it is.
What shows are you super faithful to in the UK?
But surely the Hyatt restaurant was better then seeing the Sears Tower!
I did at least get a private dining room in the Hyatt.
On a sufficiently clear day, you should still see the Sears Tower from the Hyatt restaurant. Just look southeast.
Now, seeing from the Sears Tower... that was better in the days when you didn't have to submit to a cavity search. And it was cheaper then. *sigh*
East Coast, sir. All the way to the water. Show up in NYC or Boston for my birthday, or I'll hunt you down.
Again, if not for Dragon*Con... :)
You need to come to Pittsburgh in June for Anthrocon [ http://www.anthrocon.org/]. You would have an active and eager audience waiting to experience ass eels in real time!
..ass eels? You've seen that video too?
Hey, at least you'd be a guest at SDCC. The rest of us have to wait in line to wait in line to sit in one room for an entire day to see the one thing we decided was most important ^.^
That's okay, Mr. Ellis. We'll be waiting for you to return.
In fact that'll probably be the only reason we'd go, nowadays.
You know you're dying to hit the Motor City Comic Con ( http://www.motorcityconventions.com/motor_city_comic_con/index.html)(held 30 miles outside of the Motor City), if for no other reason that to boast that you didn't get mugged. More than twice. By feral children. It's the convention Erin Gray and Denise Crosby couldn't be bothered to attend. What other convention begs it's volunteers to shower or bathe before showing up to work!???!??! It'll be quiet and anonymous in beautiful downtown Novi (named after train stop No. VI), MI. It's the Land of the Corn People, souless subdivisions, and on a Friday night - the smell of road-blasted skunk! That's! Good! Eatin! Plus then I don't have to travel further than 30 minutes by car. (Deleted comment)
NOOOOOOO! I was looking forward to getting to meet you this year. Last year was my first time at the Con and I missed your panel. Didn't know that a ten year penalty would be the consequence.

Amen. I ain't goin' this year and I think I'd be fine with never goin' back. Just
There are 2 conventions I'd love to bring to your attention. DragonCon in Atlanta, Georgia is the largest Southeastern United States Scifi/Fantasy Con, held in August. But while that one is fun, it's pretty fucking huge and you might not have as much fun. The other one I'd really like to spotlight though. ChattaCon in Chattanooga, Tennessee is technically a book convention, focusing on Scifi and Fantasy literature, held in January. It's nice and small and awesome. And did I mention that with convention admission they provide you free beer all weekend? I'd love to see you at either convention.
Thanks. I've done Dragon*Con, and would probably not go back -- I sat around on my own A LOT at that one.
And I will never do a small sf con again. I did one a few years back and was not treated especially well.
Man, that sucks, but I understand. I'll just have to catch you at another con or signing. Oh darn. An excuse to travel. |
