SECRET AVENGERS [Apr. 3rd, 2011|03:05 pm]
Warren Ellis

But now it’s been announced, I can.  A bit.  In most cases, the publisher likes to do the announcement and manage the first wave of interviews.  In which regard, you can find interviews with me about the SECRET AVENGERS series at:

I am taking the piss at various levels in each of them.

Right now, I’ve signed on for six issues.  What I said to Tom was, I’ll do six, and if I’ve irretrievably fucked up the deadlines at that point, I’ll bail out and he can get someone more professional to take over.  If nothing else, I’ve got a lot of stuff to do this summer – I have another announcement on the 11th (moved from the 8th) – and this book shouldn’t suffer from that.  If I screw up, I leave of my own accord after six.

Other details are, of course, scattered through those interviews. I hope you don’t find them too dull.

As of right now, we have two issues in the can, and I started work on the third a couple of days ago. I can tell you that this bit of script I posted the other week:

Is from my second issue of SECRET AVENGERS.  And that every issue is a self-contained story.

Anyway.  Yes.  Small comics news.

I love the idea of every issue being a self-contained story! Is Moon Knight still on the roster? I might have to pick this up.

He's going to be in the first issue, apparently! From IGN: "Moon Knight could have been a member of either team. Insofar as he is, as Henry McCoy describes him in my first issue, a borderline psychotic who wears a white bag over his head."

Which, given that MK's my favourite of the Marvel 'verse at the moment (thanks in large part to Charlie Huston's series, damn him for selling me so hard on the character), means I'm probably getting this the moment it comes out! :|

Brubaker's last series - about the Master of Martial Arts, his father, Max and Steele, was some of the most fun I've had with a set of comics since Deadpool became a pirate. I can't wait to see what you do with this box of toys. I've just been rereading your Stormwatch run, and tonally it's not too far off, except Steve is a smidge less dickish than Bendix.

Any idea who's drawing yet?

Anyway, I can't wait.

This means I have to un-drop it from my pull list now, damn.

I hope they're going to let you use Cap in his proper uniform and quit all this "Steve Rogers in a blue leotard"-crap by then. It's getting ridiculous.

The way the two major publishers have diluted storytelling to the point of having thirteen copies of every popular character running around now honestly has led to me dropping almost every one of their titles. "Red Hulk" in the Avengers now as well? Sigh.
