A Scattering Of Random Crap [May. 12th, 2011|02:50 pm]
Warren Ellis

Today we received William Gibson’s foreword for SVK.  So today is a good day.  If you’re reading this, Bill: thanks again.  I owe you, again.

Apparently there’s a new trailer for that docu about me.  I’m not looking at it.  Molly’s seen it, and says it’s me talking about “Another Cold Morning” from TRANSMET.

Whedon keeps emailing me about swearing.  Swearing as a subject matter.  Which is a bit like some terribly well-brought-up and sophisticated eccentric relative sitting next to you and talking about anal sex. With squid.

Photographer Natalie Dybisz has a thing on her Flickr profile saying “don’t reproduce my pics anywhere,” so I’m just going to point you at this wonderful photo taken at nearby Dungeness.

On the other hand, here’s my friend Cassandra Melena’s special effects final – she’s studying with Tom fucking Savini –

Also I just watched MACHETE last night and seriously how did that not win all the Oscars?  Also that Lindsay Lohan was in it.  I haven’t thought about her since 2007, when I wrote this.

In other Media Travesty news, I learned this morning that LIE TO ME has been cancelled.  Which means I’ll never get to see the episode where Tim Roth is on the moon, slapping aliens around while yelling YOU’RE A BLOODY LIAR at them.  I am sad.

You probably hear this a lot, but you've got a *very* sexy voice... (which wasn't the way my brain put it first, but I'm trying to be appropriate...)

On MACHETE: I thought it was a glorious, glorious, piece of finely-crafted trash. Few movies are good at delivering exactly what you demand of them, but somehow making it better than you'd ever imagine. I watched it back-to-back with RED, actually - it was a night of hilarity and violence and fantastic bosoms.

On LIE TO ME: first season was pretty great, a great chance to see Tim Roth chew scenery and froth in his own inimitable way. Second season was when the apathy set in for me. I'm glad they're not extending it any further as that pony clearly only had a couple of tricks, nice as they may have been.

I would love to see some sort of TV show mega-crossover one day, where Hugh Laurie & Tim Roth are suspects in an episode of BONES*, and the corpse is REMINGTON STEELE, which means they have to travel to England but then it turns into a guest-star appearance in KINGDOM and zomg it's Stephen Fry and wasn't he in BONES as well, maybe it's a twin brother you never knew about, and then the evil mastermind turns out to be Peter Falk possessed by the ghost of Telly Savalas. I'd pay actual dollars** to watch that.

* purely for a Deschanel sister to appear.
** Australian dollars, which are worth more than puny American dollars right now. Ahahahahaha.
